new guy, new car

so the title says it all. just wanted to introduce myself here, since i might be spending a lot more time on here. from NY but moved to KS for a new job. needed a car, so started shopping. decided on an integra for reliability/cost reasons, then thought i should go with a gs-r so that i'll enjoy driving it.

i found javin rogers' (mr rogers) car for sale about 100 miles from me and while it is more than i expected to buy, i hope i will be happy with it. i haven't bought it yet, but it is headed that way. i've never owned a car, so this will be my first. never been introduced to the aftermarket scene (the dark side) but if i buy his car i guess i'll be converted.

anyway - javin said to check out this place as a good place to learn all about cars- which i do want to learn about. currently i have only the most remedial grip on how a car works - but hopefully that will change.
[when i first got a computer when i went to college i didn't know a hard disk from a floppy disk. but after 4 years i built my own pc from scratch, mastered windows and linux, and could probably have a career in computers. hopefully this passion for computers will carry over to cars.] i have the time so hopefully you guys can teach me. having a good car to start out with probably doesn't hurt much either.

I can safely say that Javin knew what he was doing with his car and it is likely in very good shape. He's also been 100% trustworthy in our dealings.

thanks for the support guys - for my first car buying experience that is one fear i am having trouble trying to kick (integrity of owner=integrity of car).

by traction problems i hope you mean the car is just so damn fast the tires have trouble gripping the road.
not that i drive fast - i dont drive at all... but i think that will be changing. more than looking forward to speed though i'm looking forward to learning about cars. (one of the reasons i opted for this car.)

Does Javin's care still have an ITR LSD in it?

Regardless, high power + front drive = traction problems in 1st and 2nd gear. You'll learn how to cope with it and it will improve your launching ability.

Javin has a really nice car... and he has been a productive member of this board for a long time. I have spent countless hours with him on the phone helping him "tweak" his GSR. He is is unbelieveably meticulous, so I have no doubt that you will be purchasing a fine automobile... no matter what the price.

I suspect that Javin will remain here with the FI family even after his GSR is sold, so I wouldn't worry about his integrity.
